Plano Public Library System (PPLS) has been awarded two $2,500 grants from the Texas Book Festival. Harrington Library will use the grant funds for children’s classics as well as children’s and adult popular series titles. Haggard Library will expand and improve its collection of Chinese language materials.

“We are pleased to enhance our offerings to the public through the receipt of these awards,” said Cathy Ziegler, PPLS Director of Libraries.

Texas Book Festival grants are intended to help initiate or continue innovative library and technology programs, and to upgrade book collections. The festival’s mission is to provide additional financial assistance to the state’s public libraries. Since its founding in 1996, more than $2.5 million in grants has been awarded to 600 Texas public libraries. In 2010, more than $100,000 was distributed to 33 libraries

throughout the state.

The 2010 Texas Book Festival is scheduled for Oct. 16 and 17 at the State Capitol Building in Austin.
