Residents may be surprised to find crews installing taller poles in some of Plano’s residential areas. Existing decorative poles did not reach the required 25 to 30 foot heights needed to accommodate the city’s MOTOMESH wireless network. The poles have been strategically assigned to locations within the city right of way to provide a line of sight configuration for adequate system coverage.

When fully implemented, the MOTOMESH network will serve as a highly-integrated mobile broadband technology system to aid with public safety and city services. Departments such as police and fire will be able to access crime and health information remotely as well as submit reports from the field, saving both fuel and time costs.

Citizens with questions can contact David Stephens, director of technology services, at 972-941-7660.
