No matter how much it scares us, mathematics intersects with various parts of our lives.

That’s the crux of Chip Galloway’s lecture, “Math History: Beauty and Order in Numbers and Geometry,” at 1 p.m., March 24, at the Spring Creek Campus, Room BB107.

Galloway is a professor of mathematics at Collin College and his free lecture is part of the Scholarly Research and Life Speaker Series.

Galloway explores how a “left-brain” subject such as math can cross over to “right-brain” disciplines like art, music and religion.   

Galloway will cover Pythagorus, number mysticism, numeration systems such as Sanskrit and Hebrew, the Fibonacci Sequence, the associated Golden Ratio and Sacred Geometry, including the Genesis Pattern, the Flower of Life and the Platonic Solids.

The event is free and open to the public.

The series is sponsored by the English department at the Spring Creek Campus.
