Wellness International Network physician volunteers medical aid to Hatian survivorsRalph Oats began Plano-based Wellness International Network with a spirit of giving back more than 18 years ago, and Wellness International Network still continues to help lift others through giving-back initiatives. After directing charity efforts to the American Red Cross in providing emergency relief and recovery in Haiti, Wellness International Network has raised thousands of dollars for the relief effort in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. For the last five years, Wellness International Network has supported charitable organizations in Haiti to provide school and medical supplies to a village near Labadee.

"Haiti has been dear to our hearts since we saw how desperately the people needed our help back in 2005, and we've been happy to make a difference over the years," shares Ralph Oats, founder of Wellness International Network. "We feel so fortunate we were able to raise money by encouraging our consumers around the world to support the relief efforts after hearing about Haiti's devastating earthquake. Our prayers continue to be with Haiti as they rebuild and mourn those who were lost."

Wellness International Network distributors, including several physicians, have also given their time and talents in Haiti, helping those in need. Most recently, Drs. Rodney Ellis and Caryl Mussenden along with 12 missionaries traveled to Haiti to provide medical care for the Haitian survivors.

Dr. Ellis, an internal medicine and bariatics specialist, and Dr. Mussenden, a gynecologist and cosmetic surgeon, both treated hundreds of suffering Haitians amidst the devastation and grieved with families who had lost loved ones. "I saw the haunting eyes of a Haitian child. We could never be prepared for such a medical mission as the one to Haiti," shares Dr. Mussenden. "Hundreds of people stood in the heat for hours just to talk to a medical provider about their problems."

The medical mission in Haiti opened their eyes to the conditions there and served as an incredible service experience for this couple. Through the financial and time freedom of their WIN business, they were able to take time from their medical practices and give many Haitians quality medical care.

"We have certainly enjoyed the ability to help our patients more with the nice spectrum of products that WIN offers and we've enjoyed the prosperity that comes from that," shares Dr. Ellis. "This was the first time we took a mission trip and felt that we had residual income to help replace some of the losses we would ordinarily have because we weren't seeing patients."

Wellness International Network, a nutritional leader known for its top-selling weight management line, the BioLean System and pharmaceutical grade omega-3 supplement, WINOmeg3complex, has supported many charitable organizations since it was established in 1992. These organizations include Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, the Wheelchair Foundation, Rainbow Days and many more.
